Course Description
Completing a draft of a novel is like reaching the midpoint on your way up a mountain: you’re not quite at the summit, but the view is taking shape and the goal is feeling more and more within reach!
In this workshop-focused class, you’ll get the support, feedback and guidance you need as you work your way through to the end of your first or revised draft. Classes will be devoted to workshopping participants’ pages, with constructive and motivating discussion serving as the foundation of each session. Prompts will also be a key element to help develop your story. Be prepared to read and thoughtfully discuss others’ work, keeping in mind that giving feedback is one of the ways writers learn how to improve their own craft. You’ll leave the class with fresh ideas, a clearer direction, and the benefit of a strong writing community behind you. The class is capped at eight participants, to make sure each writer can share a substantial portion of work for thorough and thoughtful discussion.
Who Should Take This Class?

Testimonials
Barbara has given me a skill set and a fresh perspective on how to approach writing and editing. She has an uncanny ability to spot the direction a character needs to take or how to make a beat hit, and her character advice is second to none. Her classes have given me the courage to work past failed drafts, and keep pushing that pen until I have something better on the page.
The class was surprising, so fun and still so engaging. This instructor makes any class room, physical or virtual, feel so inspiring!
