    Length: 5 sessions, $450

What makes writing for tweens and teens different from writing for adults? Also, what are the differences between middle grade and YA fiction? In this course we will focus on these differences in voice, pacing, age, and subject matter. We will also get in touch with our own adolescent identities and explore how they inform our writing. General craft elements such as plot, setting, narrative arc, and point of view will be discussed. Whether you’re just toying with an idea or working on a draft in progress, writers will have the opportunity to workshop their writing in a safe, supportive space and receive feedback from the group and the instructor. Writing prompts and exercises will also be used. Open to writers of all levels.

Veera Hiranandani earned her MFA in creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College.
