Self-publishing can be an affordable, fast, and profitable way for authors to bring their work to market. It can also be a source of expense and frustration. Successful self-publishing requires the author to manage all the functions managed by a publisher. In this course you'll learn how to make the decision whether to self-publish. You'll also learn how to find and hire a freelance publishing team, how to turn your finished manuscript into a high-quality e-books, paperback, or audiobook editions. Finally, we'll cover effective pricing strategies and promotional strategies for the self-published author.

Julie Trelstad is the Director of Digital Rights at Writers House, a NYC literary agency, where she helps the agency's clients with self-publishing and online marketing. Prior to joining Writers House, Julie was an acquisitions editor for various publishing houses, including The Taunton Press, Reader's Digest, and John Wiley and Sons, where she specialized in architecture and home design books. She is also the founder and publisher of Plain White Press of White Plains, a boutique non-fiction publishing company, which she sold to Fox Chapel Publishing in 2011. Julie has always been on the digital frontier of the publishing industry from desktop publishing to CD-ROM to e-books.
