    Course Description
An overarching theme of this class will be “in search of muse, or, said differently, “in search of one’s poetic voice.”

We will talk about ways of inviting the muse, and strengthening that invitation by way of time spent listening inwardly, and devotion to a daily practice. By offering a certain light, a certain level of sound, and tweaking. By way of responding to a work of visual art, natural phenomena, a literary accomplishment, or whatever the student feels compelled to.

We will closely examine the work of five contemporary poets, one of whom will be Ada Limón, by popular request. The class is structured  as one hour for close reading and discussion, a ten minute break, and the remainder of the two hour class is dedicated to poetry workshop.

Poets at any level, who are willing and open to reading diverse poets, passionate about discussing all things poetic, and ready to try new ways of utilizing and exploiting poetic material, are welcome.

    Who Should Take This Class?
Poets, both established and beginning, and prose writers who would like to improve the distillation of their language.
