In this workshop, we’ll explore how to develop and write a comprehensive and creative college application essay.  Using material generated through prompts that address: memory, scene, dialogue, perspective, voice, and structure, students will compose a response to one of the Common Application questions.  We’ll also read and discuss examples of personal essay and cross-genre writing to investigate topics of narrative, theme, and personal reflection.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to workshop their essays, as well as consult individually with the instructor.  As a class we will get a little messy, take some risks, find the fun, and ultimately, write a piece that best represents who we are.
