There are two things most writers need and crave: time and space. In this class, we will give ourselves the gift of time. In the nurturing space here at Sarah Lawrence College, we find and begin to write the stories we live every day. Using our histories, memories, and senses as launching pads, we will begin to transform the ordinariness of our lives into extraordinary stories. This class is for those who want to write but don’t yet believe they have anything to say, as well as for those who want to write but need the time and space to do it.

Patricia Dunn earned her MFA in creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College. Her writing has appeared in Global City Review, Salon.com, Women’s eNews, The Christian Science Monitor, The Village Voice, The Nation, and L.A. Weekly. Her work has been anthologized in Stories of Illness and Healing: Women Write Their Bodies; Progressive Muslim Identities: Personal Stories from the U.S. and Canada; and, most recently, in the bestselling anthology, Love, InshAllah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women. Her debut novel, Rebels by Accident was published in August 2012. Find out more about Patricia at http://www.patriciadunnauthor.com.

Jimin Han earned an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. Her writing can be found online at NPR’s “Weekend America,” Entropy, The Rumpus, HTMLGiant, The Good Men Project, Hyphen Magazine, Kartika Review, KoreanAmericanStory.com, among others. Her novel, A Small Revolution, is forthcoming from Little A.
