It is a universal human desire to tell stories. What if you have no idea for a script or novel? True storytelling is in its golden age and the entertainment world has become enraptured with documentaries. But what does it take to actually write a
documentary short or feature? In this intensive workshop, explore how documentaries are written beginning with a simple one-sentence logline capturing your documentary idea, and brief synopsis writing to help shape and clarify your ideas and subjects. Bring your ideas and subjects for a short or longer form documentary idea and learn how to craft story arcs, design compelling interview questions, create a blueprint for your idea and deliver powerful dramatic narratives rivaled by the best of scripted media. During the first part of the intensive we will screen clips and trailers from some of the most compelling and intriguing documentaries analyzing their storylines. In the second part, you will write and workshop your ideas. Come fall in love with true storytelling where writing the truth can be more compelling than fiction!
