Elements of the Bestselling Novel: Conflict, Suspense & Action - Online Course with Elf Ahearn

Monday, February 5, 2018 at 4:00 PM until Monday, March 5, 2018 at 6:00 PM

    Online course

    Instructor: Elf Ahearn
    Length: 5 sessions, $450
    Online Course

This course will concentrate on building the armature of a novel; how to create sufficient tension to carry the action through each chapter and all the way to the end. On a micro level, we’ll examine how to write conflict, suspense and action in a very nuts and bolts way by exploring the methods used by bestsellers to balance action, description and emotion. Participants who are writing a novel or who would like to write one will share their work and receive constructive and supportive feedback from fellow students and the instructor.

Elf Ahearn’s first book, A Rogue in Sheep’s Clothing, was purchased by Crimson Romance, which is now part of Simon & Shuster. AmazonEncore subsequently bought the rights, and the novel hit #1 in its genre. Her second novel, The Secret Life of Lords, was published this year. Additionally, her stories have appeared in two other romance anthologies, and to keep the wolf from the door, she freelances for Penguin Random House and Open Road Media. Her articles have appeared in Connecticut Magazine, Yankee Magazine, the New York Post, and Romance Writers Review.
