    Course Description
Many people think they have an idea that would make a great film, and they may be right. But from executing the premise to writing a well thought through screenplay is hard work.

This course is like a tasting menu, the purpose of which is to help you understand what is involved in writing a screenplay, from creating the arc of the story as well as developing profiles for their main characters – where they are at the start, what makes them tick, what obstacles they face, their interrelationships and where they are at the end. The workshop is a combination of discussion on the basics of story structure and character development as well as brief, fun writing exercises.

By the end students will have a basic understanding of how screenplays are constructed and the tools to move forward with their first draft.

    Testimonial
“I signed up to take Jennifer Manocherian’s screenwriting class with my writing partner in the hopes of coming out of the class with a draft of a screenplay.  We came out of the experience with a better version of the original idea and the realization of what it really takes to write a screenplay that has a good story. She will help you to demand the best of yourself.” - former student
