Graduate Studies Combined Degree Programs
PROGRAM DETAILS
Five-Year Programs
Sarah Lawrence College undergraduate students can begin graduate work during their senior year, earning their master’s degree in their fifth year in three of Sarah Lawrence College’s graduate programs. This option is available for the following programs:
- The Art of Teaching (Childhood/Early Childhood Education) BA/MSEd
- Child Development BA/MA
- Dance/Movement Therapy BA/MS
Students who apply and are accepted to these programs retain their undergraduate financial aid status in their senior year while beginning their graduate studies. Once a student in one of these programs has graduated and earned their BA degree, they are enrolled as a full-time graduate student for their fifth year and pay the graduate tuition fee for the program. Tuition rates and fees can be found here.
Six-Year Programs
Sarah Lawrence undergraduate students can also begin graduate work during their senior year through one of Sarah Lawrence College’s dual degree graduate programs, allowing them to earn three degrees in six years:
- Dual Degree in the Art of Teaching & Child Development BA/MSEd/MA
- Dual Degree in Child Development and Social Work BA/MA/MSW
Students who apply and are accepted to these programs retain their undergraduate financial aid status in their senior year while beginning their graduate studies. Once a student in one of these programs has graduated and earned their BA degree, they are enrolled as a full-time graduate student for their fifth and sixth year and pay the graduate tuition as follows:
Dual Degree In the Art of Teaching & Child Development BA/MSEd/MA
Students in this program pay graduate tuition in their fifth and sixth years. Tuition rates and fees for this program can be found here.
Dual Degree in Child Development and Social Work BA/MA/MSW
The fifth year of this program (second graduate program year) is entirely at NYU and students pay tuition to (and receive financial aid from) NYU. In their sixth year of the program (third graduate program year), students continue full time at NYU and pay tuition to (and receive financial aid from) NYU. They also complete their thesis work at SLC and pay Sarah Lawrence a total of $10,000 ($5,000 in the fall and $5,000 in the spring) for a total of 14 credits - 12 thesis credits and 2 graduate seminar credits. This is billed at a per course rate for the thesis year.
Graduate Scholarships and Fellowships
Students enrolled in combined degree programs may* be eligible to apply for graduate scholarships and fellowships in the spring of their senior year. If awarded, any graduate scholarship or fellowships received will be applied towards the fifth (or fifth and sixth) graduate year(s) only.
*Students in the Dual Degree in Child Development and Social Work BA/MA/MSW can only apply to NYU for financial aid in their fifth and sixth years of the program as they are full time NYU students.
